KAVAN lithium phosphate (LiFe) batteries are an ideal power source for compatible RC transmitters and receivers. They offer a high energy density, providing a high capacity at relatively low weight and compact size. Thanks to advanced electrode production technology, they allow fast charging while maintaining a long lifespan and an affordable price.
KEY FEATURES OF KAVAN LIFE CELLS:
The nominal voltage of LiFe cells is 3.2V. During operation, the cell voltage must never exceed 3.6V when charging and must not drop below 2.5V when discharging. Exceeding these values can cause irreversible damage to the battery. Therefore, special chargers for LiFe batteries must be used. Failure to follow the correct charging process or short-circuiting the cell may cause overheating and damage due to gas generation. In extreme cases, a chemical reaction may occur, posing a risk of cell explosion. While LiFe batteries are completely safe when handled correctly, this risk should not be underestimated.
CHARGING KAVAN LIFE BATTERIES
Always use a special charger for LiFe batteries. It must be equipped with an automatic system to ensure that the maximum allowable voltage of 3.6V (+1%) per cell is not exceeded. Do not charge KAVAN LiFe batteries at a rate higher than 1C*. For normal operation, we recommend using currents between 0.5-1C. We also recommend using a balancer for every charge.
Additionally, check the voltage of individual cells before charging. If the cell voltage is below 2.8V, this indicates excessive discharge and overload during operation.
Unlike NiCd and NiMH cells, LiFe batteries do not require an initial forming process. However, if you wish to charge the packs at 1C, we recommend not exceeding 0.5C during the first three charging cycles. LiFe batteries do not need to be discharged before charging. For example, you can charge a battery that is 50% discharged.
LIFE BATTERY OPERATION
Use only devices compatible with LiFe batteries. Avoid subjecting batteries to heavy loads when their remaining charge is less than approximately 20-25% of their nominal capacity (less than 3.0V per cell). LiFe cells from all manufacturers are sensitive to overloading in this range, which can reduce their lifespan.
STORAGE
Batteries should be stored in a partially charged state, with individual cell voltage between 3.30 and 3.35V. Check the batteries at least every three months during long-term storage and recharge them to the storage voltage if necessary.
KAVAN LIFE BATTERY SETS
Charging cables (power cables) are equipped with standard JR/UNI servo connectors. All sets include a standard JST-XH system balancer connector.
